England in September

On September the 3rd, 2010 we left Toronto's  Pearson Airport on a Air Transat flight to London England.  After flying all night we landed at Gatwick Airport on the outskirt of London.

We had made arrangement to be picked up and taken to a nearby Bed and Breakfast but could not find anyone who knew where the meeting place or pickup area was supposed to be.  We wondering around lost at the airport for several minutes hoping that this was not going to be the start of a horrible holiday.   Then quite by accident  we spotted the van which was to take us to the little town of Horley about a 15 minute drive away. There we stayed at a small bed and breakfast Inn  named the Gainsborough Lodge.
It was quite reasonably priced and  included a full English breakfast.  The lodge was  situated about a 10 minute walk from Horley which was a charming little English town with several restaurants and quite a few second hand stores Also it being Saturday the local market was in full swing.

We spent the first day just exploring Horley and resting because neither of us slept very much on the flight over.
